Mycelial Medicines on Medium

This Medium account is the beginning of a writing practice I’m taking up. I want to start sharing my writing again as a way to connect by sharing in storytelling and learning. I started my first blog in middle school as a way to explore my fascination with animals and I covered some of the most bizarre and dazzling species I could. I did web searches with a focus on interesting factoids to inform my posts. Now, I’ve had personal interactions with many animals that I’ve shared ecosystems with and I’ve learned about them from varying lenses and modalities. To jump back into writing, I am going to feature these fellow animals by first addressing them in a letter style, informed by my personal interactions with them, and then by drawing from Behavior of North American Mammals by Mark Elbroch and Kurt Rinehart to provide an overview of the animal’s lifeways.
